Taylored Renovations and I signed a contract in late December 2024. The contract total was approximately $100,000. At the time of signing, I wrote a check for deposit. We were to meet again early Spring to begin. I will note, I did extension research on contract, business practices, construction background, past clients. Everything checked out.
The project was set to begin in early Spring. We had a final walk through of the construction process and plans with Keving and his project manager. The project was to begin early April. And other draw was given, as contract stated, when the project was to begin. A crew came on April 14th for about 2 hours and began removing exterior brick. The same crew came back for a couple hours the next day, removed trim and more brick, and placed a thin piece of plastic on the exterior. (yes, I got rain in my basement....had to get someone to put up tarps , a bandaid in the meantime)
A week went by, we had rain, and I was thinking I hadn't heard or seen anyone because of the weather. I got worried after repeated attempts to contact Kevin, and his team.... Was he in an accident? Did something happen to his project manager? I started to look online on April 25th. Much to my surprise, a WAVE and WHAS article came up linking Kevin and his wife Michelle to child abuse chargers. He was in jail, that is why I hadn't heard from him. So then, my stomach starts turning....oh my, oh crap, I gave him money, and now he is going to use it for this....I knew this was not good. But I still thought, no way, no way he did this...no way he is going to just STEAL this money from me. There is no way...here is the article.... https://www.wkyt.com/2025/04/17/husband-wife-arrested-alleged-child-sexual-abuse/
I call his project manager the minute I come to this realization. It was 7:00 on a Friday evening, to which his project manager said , " This is my family time...." oh ok, well, I am a little concerned here. I have given a sizable amount of money....haven't heard from anyone. What's the plan?? Kevin called me about 4 days later and asked what I wanted to do. I said very, very, very clearly, I am sorry for your troubles...but I would like my money back. Crickets.....
I contacted a lawyer, and they wrote a letter, which was delivered, but I received no response. I have been told, this may be a losing cause. Kevin clearly does not care that he stole over $50K from me. If he is innocent of these charges against him, but yet will be fine stealing from a client...then he is at the very least a thief. I don't want to waste time and resources with a lawyer...this could drang on a long time and not see any money returned to me. I have since contracted with another contractor who is doing a fabulous job...and will be done soon.
So, for just about $10 I can create a website, tell my tale, and maybe help someone in the future from doing business with Kevin Taylor, Taylored Renovations. Until I see my money returned, I will keep this website up and running. Hell, it's a lot easier and cheaper than getting Kevin to court. Were you screwed by Taylored Renovations too? Do tell..... And Kevin, if you are out there, if you would like to do the right thing and pay me back. Please contact me....just waiting here.
